Text QR Code Generator
Turn any text into a scannable QR code: a message, a quote, a set of instructions. Type below and the code is generated in your browser. Nothing leaves your device.
A text QR code encodes arbitrary text (a message, a note, an instruction) up to a few kilobytes. When a phone camera scans it, the phone displays the text and offers to copy it or open it in a notes app.
Unlike a URL QR code, there's no destination and no click. The text itself is the payload.
- iPhone (iOS 11+): Open the Camera app and point it at the code. The text appears. Tap it to copy or share.
- Android (9+): Open the Camera app or Google Lens. Point it at the code and tap the text to copy or share.
- Older devices: Any QR scanner app will read the code and display the text.
- Sharing a message that isn't a URL: a quote, note, or instruction
- Museum plaques or exhibit signage: longer descriptions guests can scan
- Prize or raffle codes: winners scan to reveal their result
- Instructions on a physical product: safety notes, setup steps
- Leaving a text handle instead of a URL: social handle, PGP fingerprint, contact info
Your text is turned into a QR code entirely in your browser. It's not sent to us, logged, or stored anywhere. Close the tab and it's gone. See our full promise.
